The Art of Chess Camp

Starting Summer 2025

Registration Begins May 1, 2025

The Art of Chess Summer Camp is an exciting and immersive program that blends chess and art, to boost children’s self-confidence, imagination, focus, and intuition through fun, creative activities. Our goal is to encourage creative thinking and self-awareness, giving children the tools to enjoy screen-free games, connect with peers, and build lasting friendships. At our camp, children are empowered to think creatively, explore new interests, and uncover hidden talents. From painting to discovering new games and enjoying meaningful time with friends, The Art of Chess Summer Camp provides an unforgettable and enriching experience for every participant.

Each camp consists of 5 consecutive days,

each day building on the day prior.

Here’s what your child can expect each day:

9:00am – 9:30am: Choice Art

Children have the opportunity to grab a quick game of chess with a peer or draw at our communal drawing table.  This allows time for the children to open up and get comfortable with their environment and friends.

9:30am – 10:30am: Chess Class

Our partners, Elite Chess, give a fun and interactive chess lesson on a large projector so everyone can see and hear the lesson.  Children get the opportunity to pair up and practice their newly learned skills!

10:30am – 10:45am: Movement Break

Before hopping into our next art activity, the children enjoy a fun movement break with one of our teachers.  This gets them out of their seat, stretching, jumping, and running in place.  We play games like Simon Says and Musical Chairs, always incorporating terminology from that day’s lesson.

10:45am – 11:30am: Art Class

From painting to crafts, the children will enjoy a wide variety of art mediums.  Each day we work with a new medium, introducing basic art terminology and theory all while creating something the children can take home with them.  Expect a lot of artwork to hang on your fridge!

11:30am – 12pm: Choice Art In Practice

Again we allow the children to choose whether they want to play chess or engage in our community art table. Some will use this time to spend on their artwork if they want to add that extra little detail, and some will prefer to engage in a thrilling game of chess with their peers.  This is an opportunity for bonding but also to practice what they’ve just learned on their own time.
